Our School at a Glance

Malibu High School is a grade 6-12 middle and high school. In 1996, Malibu High School celebrated the graduation of its first senior class. It is the top performing high school in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and is the only public high school in Malibu. Students excel academically, as athletes, in the arts and in serving their community. The Shark, symbol of Malibu High School, is a fitting image for a school that grew out of the ceaseless determination, tenacity and concerted efforts of a dedicated group of Malibu parents and community members.

Student Body
There are 1,113 students enrolled in Malibu High School for the 2014-2015 academic year. The high school includes grades 9-12 and totals 651 students. The current senior class totals 150 students. While most of the students come from the Malibu community, others come from Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Oxnard to attend the school, where 9% of the students attend with out-of-district permits. Approximately 84% of the students are Caucasian, 10% Latino, 2% African American, 4% Asian/Pacific Islander. Approximately 14% of the students are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

The staff is comprised of 55 teachers, 3 administrators, 4 counselors, 1 school psychologist, 1 librarian and 1 school nurse. Three members of the faculty have doctorate degrees. Five teachers have earned the prestigious National Board Certification for teaching excellence.
