Monday Mesaage: June 5

Today, Monday, is a regular 3 o'clock dismissal.  Tuesday through Friday are 12:35 dismissals.
Dear Parents and Friends,
This is the last week of school and I feel like I’m on an airplane coming into John Wayne airport, at a very steep angle and fast.  We have a jammed packed week of celebrations (and finals) this week culminating with high school graduation and eighth grade promotion.
Last week, our baseball team finished out their season with a great showing at CIF semifinals.  While the game did not go in our favor, the team played well and we are all proud of you.  Great season boys!
The end of school for some means a new chapter coming and for others is just a continuation on their path.  Either way, it is a time to pause and reflect. “Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”  -John Lubbock
Summer is a great time for rest, rejuvenation and family.  After the tests have been taken, the papers written and the projects turned in, but before we ramp back up for a school year with new goals, celebrate the accomplishments of this year and take time to just be in the moment with our loved ones.
Good luck on finals! I hope to see you at the celebrations and have a great summer.
Go Sharks!
Cheli Nye, Ed.D.

CONGRATS BASEBALL: Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team who beet Barstow High School 11-1 at home last week and advanced to the CIF-SS Division 6 Semifinals.  The team traveled to Moreno Valley last week at lost 6-4, one game short of the championship.  The semi-final appearance is one of the best, if not the best, seasons a baseball team has ever had for Malibu High.  We are proud of you!
CONGRATS CLAUDIA:  Claudia Lane advanced from last weeks CIF-SS Masters meet to the State Championship meet in Clovis this weekend in the 3200m event.  We just received word that Claudia Lane won the 3200m event at the CIF State Championships!  She had a time of 10:07:32.  The state title comes after winning state and nationals in cross country earlier this year.  This is a huge accomplishment and the Malibu High community is extremely proud of Claudia!  Go Sharks!
