The Environmental Club is raising money to pay for the Flowater stations on campus.  These stations provides free, cold, filtered water with added electrolytes to the entire school community.  Thank you so much for your support! MHS Toy Drive for 38 children that are living in a Women’s Shelter: ALL

The Lend a Hand club is collecting toys the week of March 12 - 16 to make Easter baskets for 38 children that are living in a Women’s shelter in Venice Beach. The kids and their mom’s are living in this shelter because they have left a domestic violence relationship and they are homeless and trying to get back on their feet. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy for children ages 3 to 10 years of age. The class that donates the most toys to their 2nd period class will win a donut party!


All visitors will be required to check in with our security at the security desk in the driveway between Cabrillo Elementary and Malibu High School. All visitors will need to produce identification in order to come on campus.

PTSA Honorary Service Awards:  ALL


Do you know a special person or organization in our MHS community that goes the extra mile to help the children and youth?  Please consider nominating them for an Honorary Service Award. These awards acknowledge both individuals and organizations for outstanding community service in the MHS community.  The PTSA Honorary Service Awards ceremony will take place on May 24th. We are now accepting nominations. Nomination forms can be found in the MHS admin office or by clicking the link below, and can be returned to either the PTSA President’s in-box in the admin office or scanned/photographed and emailed to Wendy Davis at

Managing High School Stress and Anxiety in Preparation for Final Exams, AP Exams, College Applications and Life: High School


This is a drop in high school lunch group led by a clinician to help students talk about their feelings of being overwhelmed. Helpful stress reduction skills are demonstrated and students find support in conversation with one another. Meets in the Library during high school lunch. Feel free to bring your lunch. All High School Students need to update and log in their Service learning hours into Naviance. Remember, 80 hours are required to walk with your graduating class. If a student completes double their required amount, the student will graduate with Service Learning honors. Juniors must log in a minimum of 50 hours by early May in order to be able to attend Prom. Seniors must have all their hours completed and logged in by early May as well.

Students, please check out the MHS Service Learning Calendar to find Service Learning opportunities.  There you will find events for each month that you can click on to find out all the details. This calendar is regularly updated, so please use this handy tool and check it out!  Additionally, there is a Community Service Learning bulletin board located outside in the Cafeteria area, where you will find posters, flyers, and other pertinent Service Learning information.  You can access the calendar by going to the MHS Website Homepage:



Youth Commission Sign Up. Students have until March 23rd to apply for the Harry Barovsky Memorial Youth Commission. The City’s Youth Commission serves an as advisory board to the Malibu City Council and assists in planning and executing teen events. Youth Commissioners acquire valuable knowledge becoming young leaders by improving their skills in project management, event planning, public speaking, and understanding of local government. City Council will be appointing a maximum of 25 students in grades 7 - 12 during the 2018 - 2019 school year who are interested in making a difference in their community. The Youth Commission meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at Malibu City Hall. All Commissioners are expected to attend monthly meetings and special events regularly. This is a great way to earn Service Learning hours while serving your community! Please see Ms. Soloway for an application. For more information contact Katie Gallo at 310-456-2489 x 363.

Wolf Camp applications now being accepted. High School students are invited to apply for Wolf Camp which will take place May 15 - 18 at Camp Hess Kramer. If interested, students will need to pick up an application form from Ms. Soloway. The application needs to be completed and returned to Juan Cabrillo Elementary School no later than Thursday, March 22. Students must be succeeding in school and will be responsible for making up any missed work. Approximately 8 boys and 8 girls will be selected to act as counselors for the Juan Cabrillo fifth grade class and are required to stay the entire time. The camp is free to selected counselors. Food and board will be provided. Upon completion, each counselor will receive 60 hours of community service. For more information contact Ms. Soloway at

Lend a Hand will be holding a toy Drive the week of March 12 - 16. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy for children ages 3 - 10 years old. There are 38 homeless children and their mothers at a shelter in Venice that would really appreciate these gifts for Easter. The second period class that brings in the most toys will have a donut party.

Reddy2Fight will be having another goody bag stuffing event for hospitalized children this  Wednesday, March 14 during Support period in the MHS New Gym. Please come help and get an hour of Service Learning!

Solstice Canyon Clean-Up. Come help clean up Solstice Canyon Wednesday, March 14 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Take Corral Canyon Road to Solstice Canyon Road and follow it until you reach the end/main parking lot. Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Gold Hunt Prep Day The City of Malibu will be having a Gold Hunt for young children and needs help prepping for this event on Thursday, March 15 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Bluffs Park. To volunteer, please register with the City of Malibu at

All Abilities Fair Prep Day and Event Day are coming up! Help prep for the event on Friday, March 16 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Malibu Jewish Center, 24855 Pacific Coast Highway. On the day of the event, Sunday, March 18,  please come anytime during the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm to help out with this family-friendly, fun event for people of all ages and abilities. MHS Marie Smith Track and Field Invitational Volunteer for this fun, exciting, and huge event on Saturday, March 17 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (or any part of that time.) There are several positions that need your help with athletes, starting block helpers, flag holders, and more. Please wear comfortable shoes! For more info contact Kristin Kohn at 310-993-6481.

Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills  is looking for volunteers! Sign ups begin now and can be found on the MHS CSL calendar. Volunteers are needed for March 22, 23, and 24. Spots fill up quickly so sign up now and earn those service learning hours while helping out our local schools.

Cars and Coffee is an ongoing event and happens every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at Malibu Bluffs Park from 7:00 am - 9:00 am. Help with directing cars in the parking lot, set-up, clean-up, and taking photos. Please register with the City of Malibu,

Every first Friday of each month come volunteer at the Topanga Community Center to help serve dinner to The Sage Senior citizens.  Come help set up, prep food, serve food and beverages, socialize with Seniors, and help and clean up. Hand in Hand is an ongoing event that happens every Thursday during the School Year. You may come any Thursday from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm at the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue, 24855 Pacific Coast Highway. Hand in Hand is an after school inclusion program. Be a peer buddy for teens and young adults with special needs. Malibu Library: ALL


The City invites the public to share their thoughts about future library services for the community as part of the new #Malibu Library Needs Assessment. The last Needs Assessment was conducted in 2005. Community members are asked to give their feedback on what the Malibu Library needs - more books, movies, learning experiences, or a quiet corner to read and think. Wellness Center at the Boys and Girls Club: ALL


It’s a New Year at the Wellness Center! We have new group and class offerings, a larger staff of clinicians and a great new facility. We opened our doors this past Fall, hoping to help students at all four campuses of the Malibu public schools. Increasing feelings of anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and family conflict is experienced by many of our students.
