SCHOOL NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

HEALTH OFFICE UPDATES: ALL
We appreciate all your efforts at home and in the community to minimize the spread of Norovirus throughout our schools including washing hands with soap and warm or cold water which is critical to preventing the future spread of the virus. This is especially important after bathroom use and prior to eating. If you have had symptoms associated with this virus (nausea or vomiting or diarrhea) YOU MUST STAY HOME FOR 48 ADDITIONAL HOURS AFTER SYMPTOMS GO AWAY. Those affected are still contagious even when they feel healthy again. We understand this can put a lot of stress on a family when kids are home from school, however, it is important to not come back early and expose others to the virus while still contagious.  If you have medical questions, please contact District Nurse, Lora Morn, lmorn@smmusd.org, or your health care provider.

THE SHARK FUND: ALL
THE SHARK FUND for MHS – “March into the Future” – during this month of March – we invite each and every family to contribute something to the Shark Fund – to help reach our yearly goal.   One-time and monthly, recurring contributions are all welcome.  Look for an email soon with more details and info.  And thank you SO much for supporting our school – so needed for all the programs in Arts, Athletics, “STEM” support, technology in classrooms, teacher and student services, and a lot more !  To contribute:   www.thesharkfund.org

CURRENT PICK UP/DROP OFF EXPECTATIONS: ALL
At this time (and up until Spring Break), all Malibu Middle and Malibu High students should be picked up and dropped off near the middle school stairs in the staff lot at the curve of Morning View Drive, or in front of the main stairs in the small lot near the offices.  Drop off early, pick up late, and Carpool!  At this time, student drivers with a parking permit should park in the student lot at the top of our school.  Students should not be parking at the Methodist Church or JCES.  Pick up/Drop off should not  be happening near the front of JCES.  Again, reducing cars as we move forward will be important and we encourage those who can carpool to do so.

UPCOMING CHANGES TO PICK-UP/DROP-OFF AND PARKING: ALL
Due to the large modernization project currently underway at MHS, we are anticipating changes to parking and pick up and drop off near spring break.  Specific dates and guidance will be sent home once procedures are finalized.  However, begin to prepare for no access to the front lot.  Therefore pick up and drop off will occur directly on Morning View Drive with students entering and exiting from the right side of the vehicle.  No vehicles will be able to be parked on the right side of Morning View.  We are anticipating enforcement (tickets and towing) of the green curbs starting in April. Cars will then have to drive down Morning View to Guernsey to return to PCH.  Drop off early, pick up late, and CARPOOLING is going to be a necessity.  We need to reduce the number of cars during this time as much as possible.  More info to come!
