PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Friends,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with those that you love.  I was blessed to have my sister in town the week before and then attend our 14th annual “Framily” Thanksgiving with my surrogate California family.  We started out as a small group of seven and have grown to over 20. Each year we go around the table to say what we are thankful for.  This year I am truly thankful for my new position at Malibu High.  I am blessed to work with an amazing staff, the work at school that is the definition of community, to have extremely supportive parents, and to work for the kindest, most talented students. Thank you all.

There are only four more weeks to winter break; it will fly by quickly.  This is the time to stay the course and focus on the end.  I think that a quote from Vince Lombardi is appropriate, “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

If you haven’t heard by now, we have a state champion among us.  Sophomore Claudia Lane broke records with her CIF Division IV win.  Her time was almost an entire minute faster than second place.  Amazing!  Great job Claudia and good luck as you move on to Nationals!

This week I am looking forward our Winter Choir Concert.  It is in the auditorium this Thursday at 7pm. In addition, winter sports have begun.  We have a home boys’ soccer game on Wednesday, JV at 3:30 and Varsity at 5:15. Hope to see you there!

Lastly, I hope that you all are getting our modernization updates.  I just want to highlight that we have a phase that has been completed; all our temporary buildings have been delivered.  Thank you for being flexible with pick up, drop off, and parking during these times.  You will still see the workers here completing the utilities connections, but this will be all completed soon and teachers will be moved into these building over winter break.

Go Sharks!

Cheli Nye, Ed.D.
